WA Equal Opportunity Commission response to COVID 19

by EOC | Apr 03, 2020

In these uncertain times we would like to reassure all Western Australians the Equal Opportunity Commission will do its best to continue to provide complaint handling and outreach services.

In times such as these it is vital Western Australians prioritise social cohesion through the humanitarian values of respect, equality and dignity. We are all in this together.

During the COVID-19 pandemic the health and wellbeing of our community is our priority so, in line with Australian Government Department of Health advice, the Commission has put in place a range of measures.

Social distancing will be practised at the Commission for all face to face meetings; however, we request parties use teleconferencing instead of face to face meetings wherever possible, including for conciliation conferences.

During the pandemic clients will not be required to attend a conciliation conference or appointment in person if they express concern.

Scheduled training courses at the Commission will continue until further notice; however social distancing must be maintained between participants. New courses will not be scheduled for the time being.

Staff have been advised to practise hygiene measures and avoid shaking hands.

Regular cleaning of frequently touched surfaces within the Commission building is also taking place as advised by Department of Health.

The Commission will provide updates regarding our services through our contacts list, on our website and via our Facebook page.

In the meantime, please look after yourselves and each other.
