The Equal Opportunity Commission was pleased to sponsor the Equal Opportunity Commission Award for human rights, equity and diversity in mental health award at the Mental Health Good Outcomes Awards again this year.

Acting WA Equal Opportunity Commissioner Allan Macdonald said this year's recipients, Mental Health Matters 2 (MHM2) had done some inspiring work affecting Government policy and programs which impact on the most disadvantaged people in the community.

"MHM2 is a volunteer advocacy group with a special focus on people and families who experience ongoing mental distress and problems, some of whom may have become involved in the criminal justice system.

"Through its Substantive Equality program, the Equal Opportunity Commission works very closely with Government agencies to ensure their policies and programs don't impact negatively on disadvantaged groups in the community, so MHM2's work is the perfect recipient for this year's award," he said.
