ACTU calls for greater work rights for mothers

New mothers would have a stronger claim to "family friendly" hours when they rejoin the workforce under a series of employment rights proposals that unions say will help end pregnancy discrimination.

A submission by the Australian Council of Trade Unions will urge the Fair Work Commission to include clauses in all modern awards providing new mothers with the right to either part-time or reduced hours in the same job they held prior to taking parental leave.
